YKK North and Central America Group Community Service Projects
In line with the YKK Group Environmental Pledge, which states, “It is recognized today as being a most important duty for all humankind that we preserve the abundantly endowed global environment and that we transfer it to the next generation in a sound condition,” YKK North and Central America Group takes part in numerous environmental community service projects.
Our biggest annual activity is participation in the YKK Group’s global Tree Planting Day, which has taken place on June 5 (World Environment Day) every year since 2008. In addition, every year employees at the YKK (U.S.A.) Inc. National Manufacturing Center in Macon, Georgia, participate in Ocmulgee Alive!, a program in which employees from local businesses help to clean up the Ocmulgee River that runs through Macon. The employees at YKK AP America Inc. also help clean up the Oconee River that runs through Dublin, Georgia as part of the Rivers Alive program in Dublin, Georgia.
On July 28, 2016, YKK Honduras planted 100 more trees with the El Zapotal School.
On June 27, 2016, YKK El Salvador planted more than 500 fruit trees in the Cavalry Regiment area to help improve the natural environment.
On June 7, 2016 YKK AP America Inc. employees participated in a tree planting in Dublin, Georgia.
On June 6, 2016, YKK Mexicana S.A. de C.V. and YKK Snap Fasteners Manufactura Mexico S.A. planted fruit trees at Leona Vicario Elementary.
On June 6, 2016, YKK Mexicana S.A. de C.V. employees particpated in a tree planting in Irapuato, Mexico.
On June 6, 2016, YKK (U.S.A.) Inc. Snap and Button Products beautified their property by planting trees and flowers and by building an arbor.
On June 5, 2016, YKK Honduras donated mobile containers for disposing of garbage to the program, “Keep Our City Clean.”
YKK Honduras worked with the College El Zapotal on a reforestation project, and planted 100 trees in May of 2016.
In January 2016, YKK (U.S.A.) Inc. Anaheim flipped the switch on its brand new 521kW solar PV system.
In July of 2015, YKK Honduras began a fumigation campaign to fight the spread of the Chikungunya virus in local public schools.
