2019-07-22 Issue 106 – Fundamental Behavior 4 – Make Quality Personal
When you stop and think about Fundamental Behavior #4, “Make Quality Personal,” you have to realize this had to be the most important character trait of Tadao Yoshida. This was what inspired him to create an organization built on the foundation of the highest levels of quality. His motivation wasn’t just about quality in the products that bore his name. This Fundamental Behavior was nurtured to grow roots in every person who has been touched by our organization – from our customers, to our employees and their families, to the suppliers who provide support of materials and services.
Making quality personal has a reciprocal benefit for all who are touched by these three letters: YKK. It makes us better as a company to the industries we serve, the communities we support, and the families we raise. This fall I will begin my 20th year with YKK, and I can’t recall a time when quality was not the number one goal. In many of the markets we serve, we battle competitors who offer cheap, inferior alternatives that cannot match our quality standards. Our customers look at what the total value proposition, from the products and services we offer to those who help represent our brand. If we fail to show how personal quality really is to our organization, then we are failing our customers in helping them understand why YKK is their best business partner.
