Throughout the month of June, YKK North and Central America Group staff members planted trees to honor World Environment Day. At YKK, protecting the environment is part of our DNA and it is one of our 25 Fundamental Behaviors. Check out this short video highlighting some of the tree planting activities that took place within the NCA region.

Staff members from YKK Canada and YKK (U.S.A) Inc. Anaheim office planted beautiful Majestic Beauty Indian Hawthorn trees outside their facilities.

In Medellín, the tree day World Environment Day celebration resulted in the planting of 200 trees in El Cerro El Volador. Members of the local community, including businesses and schools participated. Juliana Ocampo from YKK Colombia S.A.S shared that “the massive planting of trees in El Cerro El Volador was a party, despite the high temperature or the long walk to the side of the hill.” The mayor´s office of Medellín has a goal of planting 200.000 trees throughout the city where the participation of companies is voluntary.

In Honduras, YKK staff planted 5 trees in the Public Kindergarten Rosinda Mondragon located close to their facilities. This activity counted with the participation of the little students and their teachers who were very happy giving their support and celebrating World Environmental Day. The little students committed themselves to give the necessary care to the trees and by this way; they will help to take care of our environment.
