On July 8, YKK sponsored the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team vs Japan’s Collegiate All-Star Team game at Macon’s Luther Williams Field. Home of the Macon-Bacon baseball team.

The day started with pre-game Clinic hosted by both teams where children of YKK Employees had the chance to learn the fundamentals of baseball, show off their newly acquired skills and interact with the players before the big game.

YKK’s Tony Green threw the first pitch to mark the start of the game. More than 200 YKK staff and their families attended the game.

Both teams played hard on the field but at the end only one was victorious. The USA team clinched the 42nd U.S v. Japan Collegiate All-Star series title with a victory of 7-6. The team is now headed to Cuba where they will play at the 7th Annual USA v. Cuba International Friendship Series.

Baseball has played an important role in U.S.-Japan relations since Babe Ruth’s historic visit to Japan in 1934. Since then, the sport has served as a tool for cultural exchange between the two nations.

At YKK, investing in relationships is a top priority.  Our Fundamental Behavior #4: Invest in relationships, states that: “strong relationships enable us to more successfully work through difficult issues and challenging times.”
